Book Fosiles del cosmos (cosmic fossils)
In 2022, Paula Jofre published through Penguin Editorials, DEBATE, the outreach book entitled "Fósiles del cosmos". The book explains the role of stars in deciphering the history of the Milky Way. To do so, stars are deeply explained, and so the GBS play a central role in the book narrative. The book highlights women in the field, among them several of the GBS team.
The front cover's dots correspond to the GBSv1 stars analyzed when introducing the iSpec pipeline by Blanco-Cuaresma.
The book has been selected to represent the Chilean delegation in the Guadalajara 2023 international book fair, the largest fair in Spanish. We also obtained a grant in Chile to distribute the book in local schools and provide more material for science classes.
Gaia image of the week for women in Science
Our fundamental work for Gaia, and our strong representation of women in astronomy, motivated a note at ESA about our role in Gaia on 11 Februray, the international day of women in science.
